Smart and Sustainable Packaging, Autumn 2026, Course 2

This course aims to provide an introduction and overview on different packaging materials, different packaging strategies and different smart applications for making packaging more sustainable. Based on the course material, the participants should gain increased understanding of both the challenges and opportunities there exist in developing more sustainable packaging systems, as well as insights into the complexity and trade-offs involved.

This is a commissioned education, meaning it is intended for employers who wish to send their employees for further education.

The course is given by the division Packaging Logistics at the Department for Design Sciences at Faculty of Engineering, Lund University.

This course is online and contains three modules:

  • Packaging materials
  • Packaging r-strategies - reduce, reuse, recycle or recover?
  • Smart packaging

Course dates: Aug 25th-Oct 15th, 2026.
Course fee: 5200 sek VAT exclusive.
Joint online introduction August 31 - at 16.00-17.00 CET.
