Learning Lab 2 -The Ethics of Safety

Explore how organisations can respond to adverse and potentially traumatic events while balancing accountability, learning and the wellbeing of staff. This highly interactive Learning Lab brings together professionals from different fields to critically examine established ideas about safety, responsibility and organisational resilience.

Two central themes are Just Culture and Safety Culture. Participants explore how organisations can create conditions for open and honest reporting while maintaining accountability, and examine who defines what constitutes acceptable or unacceptable actions when incidents occur. The Learning Lab also takes a critical look at Safety Culture – how the concept has developed, how it can be understood and assessed, and how its use can influence organisational practices.

Through discussion, reflection and exchange of experiences, participants are encouraged to challenge assumptions and relate different perspectives to their own organisations and professional practice.
